Become a Certified Sports Nutrition Coach

Discover How to Enhance Athletic Performance Through Proven Nutrition Strategies

At last, a true REAL WORLD nutrition certification for coaches who work with athletes; for coaches who want to master their craft of training the total athlete.

Athletes work year-round on perfecting skills so they are able to perform at peak potential during games and competitions. Fueling the body correctly and at the right times is essential so athletes can perform at their best when it matters most. Nutrition can help athletes recover from injuries, reduce the risk of illness and allow them to finish their match or game as strong as they started.

Unfortunately, many younger athletes feel nutrition is unimportant because they can “get away with” and make poor food choices; but, it’s crucial at all stages of performance and all ages.

Food – or more appropriately, fuel – drives the process of an athlete hitting their highest potential. Fueling practices and strategies are different depending on the individual, the sport, and the time of year. When athletes kick the game-winning goal, throw a curveball for a strikeout, execute a full-twisting layout with perfection, or tackle a receiver to prevent a touchdown, the efficacy of these skills is not only determined by the number of hours spent practicing these techniques; these skills are also influenced by how quickly and how many muscle fibers contract as well as what fuel is available for the muscles to produce the necessary energy for the skill.

Our goal is simple: to teach coaches how to fuel their athletes performance. Once you understand the science and rationale behind proper nutrition and the specific needs of your athletes, you can set the foundation for maximizing the performance of your athletes.

The method we chose to achieve that goal?

The Brand New Certified Sports Nutrition Coach™ Certification Course:

Basically, if you need to know it as a coach, we teach it in the certification.

At the end of the day, how you fuel your body effects your performance. Make the best food choices. We teach you exactly how to apply this information to develop and optimize your athletes nutrition and eating habits.

No other sports nutrition educational program has this combination of depth and focus.

The Certified Sports Nutrition Coach™ Certification Is Like No Other Nutrition Program You’ve Ever Seen Before.

The Certified Sports Nutrition Coach Certification was developed to address a growing need for coaches…clear, non-biased nutrition information.

Nutrition can be confusing to your athlete, with conflicting opinions and ideas about the fuels & foods to choose.

I’m sure you get asked some sort of nutrition question every day from parents and the athletes you train. You already know that training and nutrition go hand-and-hand and when used together they lead to exponentially greater results than just training alone.

Workouts and exercise alone just don’t work as well. Proper nutrition is crucial to improved health and performance; so if you can get better results a lot faster with nutrition as part of your program, then why isn’t’ it a part of everyone’s training plan?

Many coaches just stay away from these topics so they don’t have to address them.

But…your athletes are eating and drinking every day regardless if you talk to them or not, and you need to tell them something, right?

So…what are you telling your athletes?

You need to make sure they are making the correct choices. Foods will play a role in their athletic performance, good or bad, positively or negatively.

There has been a growing trend of marketing agencies (and celebrities) creating confusion on a wide range of topics.

High Carb, Low Carb, Keto Diet, Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten Free, GMO’s, Nutrient Density, Dairy, Organic, Digestive Tolerance, Hydration, Weight Loss, Weight Gain, Supplements…

How do you sort through all of the hype?

The knowledge to differentiate between nutrition fact and nutrition myths is one thing you’ll gain from the Certified Sports Nutrition Coach course. It will become your trusted source of sports nutrition information, making it easier to simply spell out and explain to your athletes so they understand what it takes to fuel their bodies properly to maximize their performance.

That is exactly why this Certification was developed.

Understanding sound nutrition principles, from the latest guidelines and practical tips on nutrition to supplements, will give your athletes an advantage to reach that next level.

At the end of the day, how they fuel their body affects their performance and you, as a coach, need to make sure your athletes are making the correct choices.

If you’re interested in becoming such a Coach, then I have something just for you…

How Does It Work?

Step 1: Take the Course

The Certified Sports Nutrition Coach Certification course has 3 hours of video lessons, a detailed 186 page manual, downloadable handouts, and one final exam.

(NOTE: A complete course description can be found at the bottom of this page.)

The course level is intermediate/advanced, and knowledge of the material it contains will prepare you to appropriately empower your athletes to make informed choices when it comes to their nutrition, better than any other Certification available today.

Step 2: Pass the Test

At the end of each core module you will take, check to complete each section to ensure that you understand the basic concepts covered in that module. Once you have completed each module, you will then be able to sit for the final exam (which is taken online) and upon successful completion you will have earned your certification.

The exam isn’t “tricky,” but it does require that you know the information if you want to pass. A passing grade is 80, and you can take the test twice (for a max total of 2 attempts). If you do not receive a passing grade after your third attempt, you will be required to go back through the module prior to taking the test again.

The exam is untimed, and consists of 75 multiple-choice and true/false questions. Allow 60 to 90 minutes to complete the exam. Ideally the exam should be taken in one sitting, however, your answers are saved if you need to come back and finish at a later time.

Step 3: Display Your Certification

Upon successful completion of the course and exam, you will receive a personalized certification badge and certificate.

The badge is designed so your accomplishment can be displayed on your website, email signature and anywhere else online that you choose.

Plus, your digital certificate is full color, printable and is suitable for framing should you wish to display your achievement at your home or facility. This will help separate you (and your athletes) from your competition.

When you enroll today, you’ll receive instant access to:

  • The Sports Nutrition Specialist ™ Certification Course
  • 15 Core Modules and Video Lessons
  • PowerPoint Handouts
  • Sports Nutrition Coach Manual (186 pages)

He earned his PhD in exercise physiology from the University of Pittsburgh and is a Registered Dietitian.

Chris Mohr is a down to earth real-life dietitian. He ‘gets it’ when it comes to athletes and their lifestyles and food habits in our current fast-paced world. He is realistic yet intelligent about athletes’ nutrition and he understands that nutrition is largely about lifestyle, not just nutrients.

He takes the approach as a real-world problem solver…very practical and realistic. Dr. Mohr makes nutrition simplistic, easy, and convenient as possible while addressing the difficulties surrounding proper nutrition of young athletes.

If you want to become a Certified Sports Nutrition Coach™, don’t wait.

Now is the time to register.

Let’s face it.  An athlete can have the best coaches and strength coaches, the best genetics from a mom who was a 3 sport All American Athlete and dad who played professionally. The one piece that’s often missing is how that athlete fuels their body.  The National Sports Performance Association collaborated with leading nutrition experts who work with athletes and have been in the trenches with them to know what works, what doesn’t and how to best share this information.

There are lots of ideas on how to eat better, how to fuel performance – lots of people have thoughts on that. Dr. Chris Mohr has worked with pro and collegiate athletes, coaches and trainers to help them get better results through nutrition. Not to mention he went to school for a pretty long time to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and earn his PhD in exercise physiology. He not only talks the talk, but also walks the walk.

The goal with this program is to distill Dr. Mohr’s two decades of experience in the fields of nutrition and exercise to better help coaches and athletes. He also had some help – collaborating with several other sports RD’s, PhD’s and other experts – from those working with World Champion Baseball Players to wrestlers, NFL Teams and Sports Psychologists who have worked with over 17 number one’s in the world.

The National Sports Performance Association sorted through all the confusion around nutrition by taking the most up-to-date science, testing it with athletes and sharing the results of what works with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: “What if I don’t want the certification, just the information from the course?”

A: Simple, register for the CSNC course, and don’t take the test. I know not everyone needs the initials after their name, but some may still want the education, so you are not required to take the test at the end (you must take the test though, if you want to be certified).

Q: “How is the CSNC different than other nutrition courses?”

A: National Sports Performance Association is the educational partner of Athletes Acceleration – an organization that has been the leader in athletic performance development education for the past 13 years. Coaches from over 107 countries worldwide have been using our courses. Joining forces with one of the industry’s best coaches, Dr. Chris Mohr, makes this course the best around.  This Coaching Certification is what we actually use with our staff to teach them effective sports nutrition programs.

The Certified Sports Nutrition Coach Program was created to combine research-based guidelines with applied content to better help coaches, strength coaches, and other professionals, parents and athletes understand nutrition recommendations backed by science but grounded with application.

This comprehensive resource blends nutrition science and application to provide a clear understanding of how nutrition impacts sports, exercise and overall health, and athletic performance.  Throughout this program you’ll find practical tips, strategies & methods and hear from renowned dietitians, strength coaches, and many other experts in the fields of performance to better help your athletes.

No other sports nutrition educational program has this combination of depth and focus. It’s a REAL WORLD sports nutrition certification course.

So, pretty much to answer your question, we do athletic performance development. It has been our focus at Athletes Acceleration and the National Sports Performance Association for 13 years and Dr. Mohr’s focus for his entire career. We don’t dabble and put out a bunch of different random certifications that we think people will buy. We do what we do best – educate other coaches how to make their athletes better.

Q: “Why did National Sports Performance Association create a Program Design Certification?”

A: The Certified Sports Nutrition Coach Certification was developed to address a growing need for coaches…clear, non-biased nutrition information.

Nutrition can be confusing to your athlete, with conflicting opinions and ideas about the fuels & foods to choose.

Q: What happens if you update the information in CSNC?

A: If you join and get the CSNC, you will get free access to all future updates with the program. We won’t ask you to pay again for this course if we make updates to it. Yes, like any other coach that continues to learn better ways to do things to get the most out of our athletes, we may change the CSNC down the road. So if we do make any updates or changes to the CSNC course, we will let you know and you can go check out the new material for free.

Q: “How long does it take to finish the course and receive my certification?”

A: You are able to take this course at your own pace. This class is over 5 hours of video training with the manual, so if you are working at it full-time you could technically complete the course and take all the tests in one day (although this is not recommended). To fully understand and apply the materials, you should allow 7-14 days in order to fully grasp the material.

Q: “How will this certificate help me?”

A: It depends on who you are…

If you’re a coach – this certificate will give you the knowledge to discuss and review nutrition guidelines and strategies with athletes that can improve their performance.

If you’re a fitness professional – this certificate will empower you to deliver better results to your clients. This ultimately means more clients and a better business because you will be positioned as the trusted expert in your area.

Any Strength Coach, Sport Coach or Fitness Professional who works with athletes would benefit greatly from becoming a Certified Sports Nutrition Coach. By earning this Certification, you will be educated on how to effectively discuss ‘real world’ sound nutrition programs and planning with your athlete to empower them to reach their full potential.

Q: “How is the CSNC Course Delivered?”

A: The Certified Sports Nutrition Coach™ Course is a digital course and will be entirely online (nothing will be shipped to you). Once you enroll, you will be given access to all of the material in our secure members area where you will be able to start the course on your own time, at your own pace.

Q: “Do I need CEU’s to keep this certification?”

A: No. You are not required to get CEU’s to keep this credential. You earned it after you took the test. We will update this course with new material and you will have access to it for free. If you go through this course and pass the test, you have the information available to be a master of program design.

Q: “Am I guaranteed to get certified if I take the class?”

A: No. A certification that can simply be purchased isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on. That’s why our course is challenging. If we’re going to allow you to carry the CSNC Certification Credential, you better believe you’re going to have to earn it.

Q: “How difficult is the test?”

A: You’ll find that the test is “satisfyingly difficult.” By that I mean, it’s difficult enough that you need to actually know the materials, but it isn’t tricky or difficult just for the sake of being difficult. That said, to preserve the exclusivity and importance of this designation, we have made the tests challenging and the questions do pertain to our proprietary coaching methodologies, so you shouldn’t expect to be able to pass the test just because you have taken other program design courses or feel like you understand the development of effective training programs. This training is different, and the exams will reflect those differences.

Q: “Why do I need this CSNC Certification?”

A: The answer is simple.  Better programs yield better results.

It doesn’t matter if you work with soccer players, baseball players, football players or any other young athletes.  If they want to reach their potential, the program they’re following dramatically impacts that outcome. This Certification will give you the knowledge and skills you need to deliver the results they want.

Q: “How valuable is this certification?”

A: The certification itself is highly valuable if you need to set yourself apart from the competition. What’s far more valuable than any badge or certification, however, is the actual knowledge you’re going to receive when you take this course and pass the test. You will know how to design world-class programs regardless of athlete, season, goal or need.

Q: “What if I fail? Am I allowed to retake the test?”

A: Yes, you may take the test up to 2 times. After 2 failed attempts, you will be required to retake the class (which you can do for free; just contact us to be set up and so we can see how we can help you understand the material better).

Q: “How long do I have to complete the class and take the test once I am enrolled?”

A: You can move at your own pace! We understand that life happens, and that just because you enroll today that doesn’t mean you’ll be able to finish (or even start) the class this week. And that’s ok! Take as long as you like. We aren’t going anywhere, and neither is this certification.
